This week we challenged our students to do some math in their kitchens. We provide weekly plans for our class who are “learning from home” during the school closures and making Fruit Kabobs was a HUGE hit!

We like to keep our tasks simple and provide options for each family to be flexible with the activities. Here’s what we asked them to do:

Math in the Kitchen:
Make some fruit kabobs or another healthy snack.

-Can you create a pattern with your ingredients?

-How many different ingredients did you use?

My 5 year old son (Joey) and I took on the challenge and used our absolute favourite fruits- Cotton Candy Grape and Strawberries!

We usually do this activity in the spring with our class and at our Welcome to Kindergarten orientation as a part of our Healthy Eating Unit.

Materials Needed:
-wooden/ bamboo skewers (found at Dollarama)
-fruit
